pedal to the floor

Moments ago pulling into my apartment my clutch pedal dropped to the floor. I managed to get her into my garage without stalling out. Jacked her up....if I pull the clutch pedal from the floor....then depress....hydraulic fluid squirts out of the inspection hole by the starter.
So I accept the shot slave cylinder.....looking at all the shop guides and threads I keep finding, replace the master cylinder with the slave. I am going to order in the hose (just to be safe) and the slave....but is it really necessary to swap the master as well? I can appreciate the whileyouratit of the affair...but the slave swap seems straightforward....and thats clearly where the system failed....just looking for some reassurance that Ill probably be okay without a new master....anyone?

usually if there is enough contaminants in the system for the slave to fail, the master is close behind. The bleed procedure is enough of a pain to say yes do both- but not absolutely necessary.

The first time I replaced just the slave - had a situation just like you did - the master went about 2 weeks later.
Do yourself the favor and replace both.

Agree with Dan: do both, and consider replacing both flexible hoses and the rigid line while in there. The key to making the cylinders last is annual servicing of their fluid, keep the crud out of the system and away from its seals.
