Default DME + KLR wrapping/sealing question

So I've had a recent problem concerning having humidity / water at my DME connection. I just finished cleaning and drying everything and had an idea.

Maybe I could wrap them with saran-wrap or seal them with some kind of sandwich bags, before reinstall them in place to avoid any more water problems.

Do these ''computers'' need some air, like a real computer do (I know they don't have fans... but).

As anybody did this?

These units don't need to "breathe". So sealing them won't be a problem.

These Porsche 944 Turbo DMEs dissipate their heat by being bolted to the chassis of the car. So, I don't know how you plan to bag these units in order to water proof them and then bolt them back to the car.

How did you get water on these units to begin with?

Mae sure that you spray "contact cleaner" on that DME harness...you could short-circuit the units otherwise with all that corrosion.

Eric you don't need to wrap it,once plug together use the (Gunk Wires Dryer) it will keep any humidity/water out of it in the future. Also suggest you spray your distributor cap-coil & spark plug wires you also can use that sealer safely on any sensors if you wish.

The best approach is to find the leak and repair it. Often it is in the bottom of the battery well.

+1 The battery drain was clogged. I've cleaned everything out.

About the wrapping idea, I had in mind of enrolling the 2 computers, with the bracket with saran wrap, and then attach it place. I could of saran-wrap the connectors also.

But now that my battery well is clean, and everything is now assemble, I just gonna leave like that for now.

But if the problem comes back, I might give it a try

thanks guys

I've seen battery acid leak down into the footwell. That will wreck the DME/KLR quick, so its a priority to make sure the battery is sealed and the firewall/battery tray does not leak.
