Lost the hood off my car when it was on the trailer coming home last night in the dark, somewhere between QLD Raceway & the Gateway Bridge. Drove an hour back to QR and retraced my route but no sign of it on the road. Anyone see it?!

I've lost a couple of sunroofs before but not a hood. Was it clipped down?

Steve,

Didn't see it. I think I left after you - didn't see it on the Cunningham or Ipswich Mwy. I turn off at Centennary Mwy, so perhaps lost on Logan Mwy or Gateway Mwy. Best bet (longshot) is to try Main Roads.

You guys get any more video?

Steve, doesn't look like you got to do the larger layout? Seems like a good turnout and quite a lot of varied cars at that meet. Looks like someone has got a fairly warm old 930 judging by the times.

Just when I was putting it on the trailer someone came over and asked me about the headlight buckets. I unclipped the hood and lifted it up to show them. I must have dropped the hood and not done the clips up.

Thanks Eric. I drove from QR back to the Gateway and couldn't see it anywhere. Unless it flew off the road out of sight, but there are some paint marks on the wing so it looks like it went straight back over the car. Can't believe something that big could dissapear! Maybe someone picked it up. Will try main Roads as you suggest.

The timer they gave me didn't work for the first three sessions. From my data I did 1:22's for the long track but only had a total of 6 laps between the two sessions to figure it out. The car was ok but the understeer was more noticeable than Lakeside getting through the slower Turns 3 and 6 so definately need some setup changes to go quickly there. Plus I found the short few lap sessions weren't long enough to really get a handle on a new track - I'm a slow learner

I have some videos and data logs but haven't processed them yet. Will get to it in the next week. My Hoosiers were toast so there was a fair bit of drifting going on - ended up delaminating one tyre slightly. Time for a new set.

My camera was pointing the wrong way for the first couple of sessions then the battery went flat. Got to get a better camera setup!

There was a set of 944 fibreglass moulds on ebay for about A$3k if you wanted to set up an Australasian supply of fibreglass parts... other than that most people have them done as a one-off.

Have a chat to Exoticar Parts in Sydney - they probably don't have them but may know of someone who has them.

(Unaffiliated, they just helped me out)
I can ask at the next PCNSW meeting if you are still having trouble in 2 weeks.

Thanks. Porscheapart have one for $550. Freight to QLD is $185, by the time I do the vents and get it painted should be a nice neat $1000 to get back to where I was...uggh!

Actually that's pretty cheap Steve....compared to other options. Cost a lot more than that to get one from O.S. even if they gave it to you for free! I'm actually surprised that Wallet-a-Part in Melb are selling anything for that little amount. Every time I try them for something they're so expensive it gives rise to thinking that they don't actually want to sell anything.
Surprised you can do two vents and paint for $285...what, you're going to draw them on with Texta?

It'd be cheap if I hadn't already done it! Spending the same money twice just feels dumb.

You're right it will probably cost more than that to vent and paint it. Forgot I am not in Dubai where the labour is cheap. Texta is a good idea though
