does anybody have a 944 mirror?
I'm looking for a late model 944 mirror. Or really just the electrical connection barrel for the power mirror setup. But if I have to buy the whole mirror I guess that's what I have to do. I got frustrated and cut the wires too close to the barrell and now I can't splice them back together. If anybody has one or has an idea of where I could get one that would be great! Thanks!

Hi Ryan, I can hook you up with the connector, only trick is that I'm up in Loveland.
PM me for my cell. I'm out of town until tomorrow afternoon.
Cheers.

I have several if you need it. $6 shipped
And BTW the " tool" to push the barbs down and in turn push the pins out can be made with a simple pall point pen insert. Find the one with the thin wall metal brass ink reservoir.

wiring mirror motors
white brown= brown = ground. The early 3 prong mirror motors use 2 leads for the motor and another two leads for the changeover solenoid. the changeover solenoid to switch an internal cable driven gearbox arrangement. (You can kind of see the smaller solenoid and leads going to it on back side smaller protrusion) it also has a diode and polarity cannot be reversed. Most times the defrost ground is tied to the main brown so they can save a pin thats where the brown and white seem to come in and since its basically chassis ground you may see or remember a loop like jumper. I have a few of these if you get hung up I can look closer
The later twist-to-lock glass motors 87 or so have two separate dual leads to the motors since they reverse polarity to tilt and lean. the defrost then needs a separate ground, since it cannot tolerate reverse polarity on its ground . I made a diagram a while back maybe I can find it.

thanks for the reply. here's where i am. a paint shop cut the wires to get the mirrors off about 7" from the mirror base. that person quit, and the new person tried to fix it. he matched the wire colors and it worked for drivers side. pass side has white/brown on the mirror tail but none on the door wires. he grounded that wire and i only had left and down. i disconnected it from ground, mirror does nothing. put +12 on it and i get right and up only. tried merging it with brown (ground) only get left/down.
i have white (L/R), brown/red (U/D), brown/yellow (+12 assume defrost), brown (ground) coming from door wires. so thats where the white/brown is left dangling from the mirror tail. it has been driving me crazy tryiing to figure out how to get +12 and ground to run through the same wire.
car is '90 S2 btw.

wiring
Note this is for a 3 prong mount style mirror motor early I re read your last post 1990 its likely the two motor type twist lock so all this is wrong for you see image :
Told you wrong the motor wiring does need to be reversed to change.
direction. So polarity on the blue and black get reversed.
change over solenoid yellow/brown is ground white is +12v to changeover from up down to side to side
green and grey is the defrost +
Jumpered together are grounds for changeover solenoid and the defrost ground
So basically for this style mirror you need 5 wires.
Blue and Black motor--- + /- polarity swith for opposite direction.
White and ground---changeobve solenoid Power to switch left right VS up down.
Green-gray and Ground Defrost. Can share same ground with changeover solenoid.

is that connector inside the mirror housing? im guessing it is because i only had the 7" worth of wires. and yes, mine is the later style. i dont even have the blue, black, or yellow/brown stripe wires.
the good thing in my case is you can see the color of the severed wires to find their match. its just the white/brown that does not have one. i do not have a black wire either. i only have 5 coming from the mirror side and 4 from the door side. i can only assume either there is clipped wire that is evading me at the moment, or the white/brown is spliced into another wire. i mean, where can it go where it gets both + and ground?
