Question Help identify plug under dash

Last time I was wedged under my driver's side dashboard (looking into headlight switch wiring gremlins) I noticed a 12-pin plug that was just hanging there next to the steering column, not plugged into anything. The connecting wires merge into the big trunk of wires that go off towards the fuse box.

Does anyone know what in the world is this supposed to plug in to?

if there isn't an answer soonish, I'll get under my dash to have a look.

However, lots of these plugs are in different locations in my RHD 944.

Hmm, no ideas? Obviously not urgent, the car runs fine!

Looks like a connector for the door harness or power seat harness on the other end

It's not for the door ,could be for the passenger seat if yours is manual or for something else currently not in use in your car. I have the same connector hanging in the same place and all my electrics work , it's probably for something the car is not equipped with. There is a unused socket like that all the way back in the corner under the fuse box ,maybe that's where it connects when used.

I have a couple connectors down there on mine, unused... I tapped into one cause it was 12v always on, for my power door locks

Is your cruise control module plugged in? There is a plug in that area that looks like that that plugs into it.

No, it's not the cruise control. That's plugged in and working. What a mystery!

I'll try and scan the FSM when I get home. Don't know off the top of my head.

I would agree with Rudy. I just looked in my car because I have the dash off and mine is normally unplugged as well. I do not have power door locks or alarm.

All cars were wired for the alarm/door locks and it is just hanging because yours doesn't have that module?
