Thanks, guys! Yes, this was the one on Kijiji locally. I have to admit that it was an impulse buy, but I really liked it when I drove it. Thanks to Ernie for his pre-purchase coaching!

As for what I intend to do with it, I was thinking of moving my track stuff from the 951 (which has no undercoating, and is basically track-only) into this after taking out the back seats, then selling the 951. Not sure yet, though: the turbo has a near-perfect low-mileage drivetrain and I just put a rebuilt turbo in it.

And yes, the 3 litre bug got me after driving Doug's S2 at 944Fest this year. There is definitely more low-end torque, but I suspect the timing may be off a little (and perhaps the belt, too, since it idles well, but shakes the car at idle more than I would expect, even though it has new motor mounts).

Doug, round up your passport and come on up! The drive shouldn't be too bad from where you are, and you can check out Montreal and Toronto while you're here. Scott (ZR8ED) and I were thinking of doing a fall Porsche meet and drive, too.

I'm going away for the weekend, but I hope to put it up on the lift next week and have a good look around.

Per Damian's advice, I'll put a thread on it in the 968-specific forum with specific problems, but the one I can see clearest so far is that the front bumper cover's slats are drooping in the middle, presumably from whatever front end incident claimed the original headlights. How likely am I to be able to straighten them when I repaint it? Should I be looking for a new bumper cover?

It's nice to see the Guards Red paint hasn't morphed into tomato red-sometimes you see cars from the South and Southwest being almost comically altered by the sun.

Hey C,
Nice !
I remember seeing that car at Kal-Tire a few years ago.
The graphics jogged my memory.
Saw a real nice grey one in Trenton last Sunday.
Steve.

Hey, Steve. Thank you!

It's a very different car from the 944s I'm used to, I have to say. Come to think of it, I should send you an email.

There's space for more of them than I would ever want, but I have to be careful not to let too many projects take over!

Me, too! It's going to be a drift car though, unless I can get some decent tires on it in time for September.

Hey, Steve. Yes, that was mine. It's gone to Toronto! I've seen his new car (an S2, actually) and it seems pretty nice.

I changed the FPR on the 968 today: the idle is much smoother now and the fuel pump whine is gone!

Also, I finally did a compression test: 203, 205, 205, 210psi. Seems pretty solid to me.

Ya, I knew it was your`s. The front splitter confirmed it.
I don`t know jack about them but is there a lot of up upgrades / mods you can do to them ? Or , are they go to go ?

New FPR:

(With thanks to Fergus, who patiently held it in place while I kept dropping the lower bolt!)

The idle is much better with the new FPR, and the fuel pump is substantially quieter, though not silent. It had needed a new FPR for a few years according to the previous owner's description, so I wonder if the pump might be hurting now from running so hard.

Now it's time for a Hall sensor, according to the DME's blink test. (1-1-3-4). I thought it might be the connector (which was a non-standard one) so I cut it off and hard wired it to check, but it's definitely the sensor.
