Probably my next 944
#16
I just drove one a few days ago and didn't like it. The engine feels weird. It has all of its pull in the low rpms and then just kind of gets through the upper rpms. The weight ratio may be 50/50, but the car definately likes to slide out of the corners instead of hug them, and the interior is pretty bland compared to the exterior, but that is personal preference. I enjoy driving the 951 much more, and for 25k, you can get one hell of a 951...
All in all, I was a bit disapointed. I think that with a turbo and a different suspension, then maybe, but I'll wait a few years and see how they hold up first.

What I spent on my 25 year old 951 last year would have covered payments on this for the next 3 years.

Comparing new cars to old cars is just as bad as comparing modded to stock. Of course something right off the showroom floor is going to cost more and be slower than a 10 year old corvette or something.

I am not arguing new vs old. I just did not like the way it felt when I drove it. I like feeling the torque pull at the higher rpms, vs starting high and peetering out. I enjoy the sticky feeling the 944 has in the corners. sliding a car around is good fun, but I enjoy having a car that sticks in the corner and I have to work to slide it.

Saying that both cars are well balanced so the basics are there to make the suspension do what you want. As for the torque curve, there will be numerous performance chips and upgrades out for this car guaranteed, many more future options that we 944 owners could only dream off.

ya they were 50k back in the day which means they were in today's standard was almost 100k, 50k in 1980 equaled 129k today.

Fair. I admit that I don't know as much about cars as most people on this forum, I just know what I feel when I drive. The other problem could be that I just got the 951, and I am still in love....so I think every other car is terrible in comparison! haha
