For 0-60 in 6.0 seconds, you'll be looking at the turbo models. A stock or lightly modded turbo can pretty much manage that - but a word of caution: if you're addicted to 0-60 times, consider looking elsewhere, because a 944 will never be the best return for your money in terms of 0-60 times. That's not what they're about. You could pour money into it to get great acceleration off the line, but the same money would always get you from 0-60 faster in something else like a Corvette.

It's time to start talking numbers - what kind of money are you prepared/hoping/expecting to shelll out? You could buy a decent early turbo for perhaps 8K but you will have to feed it money to keep it doing 0-60 in 6.0 reliably. Have a browse around here to get a feel for what parts cost on these cars, especially under the "Engine" section - you will likely have to buy a lot of that stuff, and more, early in your ownership of an $8-$10K car.

If you're cool with those costs, and the modest 0-60 times, then go for it. At speed these cars are very special

a stock 951 or S2 will do it under 6 seconds. if you're good you can get a 944S to do it too. that said, where the 951 shines is once already rolling...fat torque punch once you hit 3000rpm.

a stock RoW 931 S2 does 0-60 in 7 sec and will do low 6's or quicker depending on mods. my 932 with all fibreglass panels and hood felt ridiculously quick. much quicker than my 944.

I would steer you toward a well sorted S2 ... then do some suspension upgrades like bilstien coilovers. And of course 17" wheels and great rubber . Then just maintain it . These cars have superb handling .
