Question Aftermarket Seats

I’m attempting to install new aftermarket seats in my '89 944.

The seats are bottom mounted with the rails 13.5” apart that require an adapter bracket to mount to the floor of the car where the mounting bolts are 16” apart.

I’ve chosen the following seat adapter made specifically for the 944:

http://www.ogracing.com/planted-seat...3-74-98-driver

Has anyone installed aftermarket seat utilizing these adapters?

I found the seat adapters do not resemble the picture shown on the website, they do not have any legs that mount to the floor of the car; the adapter is a flat piece of metal that is planted to the floor of the car.

I’m looking for some advice on how to install the new seats utilizing the adapters.

Thanks in advance…

These are the adapters/sliders I used when I had a set of MOMOs in, seemed to work fine. The ones you posted look expensive...

I used the brackets from Stable Energies and the slider adapter they sell as well (to make the sliders 16" wide). The brackets are basically flat pieces of metal that allow me to bolt the 14" wide Momo seats to 16" wide sliders (which are bolted to the factory seat mount holes).

Mike,

How did you mount the flat piece of metal they call an adapter, the rail kit, and the seat?

Is there some sort of secret to it?

I've tried to mount the rail to the seat and then the adapter to the rail in order to install the seat as a whole unit into the car, but these isn't enough clearance to get to the rear bolts to fasten to the floor of the car.

Is there a certain order that needs to be followed, like mount the adapter to the floor of the car and then the seat with the rail attached to the adapter?

Please share your secret so I can stop sweating it.

Thanks...

Here's my secret.

Take your oem seat rails and drill holes to fit up to the aftermarket seats.

Worked perfect for me.

I got a different pull bar on the sliders so that the sliders could be bolted to the floor (basically the bar makes the Sparco seat rails 16" wide). The adapter is then installed between the seats and the sliders. Unfortunately, I don't have access to my car now so I can't get a picture, but the shop that did the installation for me, Stable Energies, is very helpful and knowledgeable. You may want to try giving them a call to ask for their advice on how to do it
