Default Power Steering Rack reseal aborted

Tried resealing my leaking steering rack. After removing the punched material in the rack end I was not able to remove the inner tie-rod ends. Even tried heating them up. As they appeared to be very old I went with a rebuilt rack and new tie rod assemblies.

My point is…the new unused Steering Rack re-seal kit is for sale . I paid $70 + shipping from Pelican. I will take ANY reasonable offer and mail it to you.

My add in the Marketplace.

In case I get into the same trouble, where did you get your rebuilt rack and how much?

Some will poo-poo the Autozone rack, but I did my reseal as follows.

1. Remove rack.
2. Install AZ rack.
3. Give AZ old rack.

I think it was $180 or so.

Thanks for the info. I posted about this before and now consider this another thumbs up for the AZ route vs. rebuilding.

For what it is worth. I had a similar issue. I couldn't get my rack apart. Purchased my kit from Travis at Rennbay and even after a year, he was willing to exchange my unopened kit for something else. Might want to see if Pelican will return it for credit if not a full refund.

I'm giving Pelican a call as I type this, hopefully they can work something out. I did just spend a couple hundred again with them...seems to happen every few months.

I paid $155 for a rebuilt rack from Rock Auto, refundable core was another 119.

Kenny and Shandira at Pelican were fantastic to work with as are a lot of vendors that we all work with. They are working out a refund for me.
