Default cheap exhaust mods

I was thinking of maybe trying out a 928 exhaust header on the 944.
They are 4 in 1 short style headers .How do you think it will affect the power band ? Here's a pic to get the idea (wrong side)

it seems like you'd be drilling into the passenger footwell for the pipes?

right. I don't know for sure, but it seems that IF a shape like that would clear Stahl, MSDS and others would make more direct looking headers.

i think it would kill the power. we have tubular headers and those are more or less log manifolds...

Those manifolds are the first thing 928 owners remove when trying to make more power.

In 1985 these were introduced to replaced the cast manifolds. 1985/86 models have a two bolt flange like the cast units:

Would the headers off of a gts or S4 fit the 3.0L S2 block? Those late style 928 units look way sexier than the rusty pos I have now. It Looks like it could work, there just needs to be an immediate bend at the collecting flange. Horse power numbers could be tested on a dyno.

That is exactly what I thought! Plus move the oil filter out of harms way.

Someone needs to compare the stud locations....
