Default Door stay failure.

OK, may have a new one here, search didn't help.

On my S2 the door stay has ripped through the sheet metal on the door side.

Anyone seen this or have a fix, short of taking the door off and welding it?

Oh damn

I'd say you gotta weld or replace the door, or maybe get creative with the door-stay. Like, hard to explain but, attach a piece of metal bigger than the hole to the piece, and slide the piece through the hole from the inside of the door, so it stays..?

That's easy welding for a body man to do in-place (after removing flammables from inside the area). He can reinforce it, too. Definitely want a permanent, functional fix. If you can cut the stay socket and surrounding metal out of a parts car that would be best.

I agree that this appears to be the best approach. There is alot of stress happening in this area. Sorry to hear this has happened and a bad door stop can turn a great driving outing into a sad ending. Trust me.... since my driveway is not flat....

Look on the 993 forum as broken door straps are a common problem. Might be able to find a body shop nearby that is recommended.

I've often wondered if that could happen...guess that answers that!

I'd weld something up on both sides of the door edge if you can reach that far. There should be some wiggle room between the door and the body in the jamb, so you might be able to get a 1/16" piece in there. Do that on the inside as well and should be good for life.

I will grab a pic for you,

Brian, It is LY7T Crystal Metalic. I am also looking for a good set of burgundy 10 speaker door cards, maybe we can work something out.

Any room for a spring of some sort?
