Default Removing interior door handle

I'm trying to remove my passenger door card, and the only screw that is still holding it on is the one behind the handle. When I unscrew it, the screw just spins without backing out.

Any suggestions on getting the screw out? I can't get to the back of the screw because of the door card being in the way.

Thanks!

The treads must be stripped.

Unforunately it must come out to get the trim off to release the door card.

Use something Stiff, flat, and long like metal. If you can put pressure pressing against the door card near the screw you should be able to back it out. Keep the pressure on as you back out the screw gently.

Cheers,
Larry

I tried this; it wasn't terribly effective.

If I have to drill the screw out, is it just a common screw I can pick up somewhere?

The fastner is fine thread with concave head . If the screw is turning and not backing out I wouldn't drill it , I would slide a L shaped wedge behind the plastic and gently pry as you turn the screw slowly.

I had to drill the screw. Somehow by drilling it re-engaged the threads somehow and I was able to finally back the screw out. The threads were completely trashed but I got it off. I'll be buying a new screw at the hardware store.
