Insurance In Ontario, Canada. Why So Difficult?
So I'm shopping around for insurance on my '84 944 NA as a DD and literally no companies will take me. They all say it's because the car is over 20 years old. Only two companies are willing to insure it and they want ludacris amounts. $500/month amounts.
Granted I am 21 and have one ticket for 12km/h over the limit (I know). But they all tell me it's because of the cars age.
So who are all the rennlisters in Ontario insured with?

Myself, my brother and 3 of our friends that all own 944's are all insured with Lant(now Hagarty) in Ontario. The thing is we are all on the custom wheels program which is for occasional use. You could try calling them and see if they'll do a DD, but I doubt it.
I'm 38, married with no tickets. My insurance is $100 a year on my 84 944.

Aveva quoted me $450/month, base coverage. My friend is going through the same thing with his Nissan 240SX. They keep telling him it's because of the vehicle age as well.

Ontario is the worst jurisdiction in North America (sans Mexico) for insurance premiums.
You can try Pembridge (division of Allstate). Search Pembridge and find one of their local brokers.
Essentially your issue is that you are 21. $450. is not unheard of for a daily driver at your age. Of course you will not seek collision coverage. Full comprehensive do get. It's cheap. Covers storm damage and DEER HITS.
I can assure you it is not the age of the car. I sympathize with you. It's a disgrace. For example, if you had a measly $200 at fault collision at your age and the other driver decided to follow the law and report it your rate would at least double for FIVE YEARS. That would be in excess of $50K.
No wonder there are so many hit and runs.
You won't find many Americans wanting to move to Ontario.

While I a 40, I have always insured with TD Meloche Monnex. They wanted an appraisal for my 951, but the insurance is only $550 a year or something like that.

I have 4 young apprentice pals who work with me at Porsche. All have been quoted rediculous premiums (as high as $800/mth) ...obviously priced to discourage and/or make it impossible for "under 25" drivers to insure high performance type sports car/motorcyle vehicles. Feel bad for the young bucks. As kids back in the '70s and '80s, all of my pals and myself were able to insure our roadsters 'n hot-rods for five hundred to a thousand bucks a year and enjoy the fun of cruisin' in the summer. It was such a big part of our lives. Glad to see that our corporate institutions are working towards making things better in the world.

My 951 is about 1000$ a year, full coverage, in Quebec, i'm 27. Insurred with TD Meloche Monnex as well. I really had to shop around because many companies here as well told me car too old and quoted me ridiculous amounts that would have me repay the whole car every year.
They want an appraisal of the car though.

My 88 944S is $150 per year-Intact ins...need to have your car appraised every 5 years. In fact, according to my appraisal, my car is worth more to me if either stolen or totaled. Kind of like me...I`m more valuable dead than alive. lol

Funny part is the past two years I was leasing a 2010 Civic Si for $310/month insurance included. I haven't had the 944 insured and on the road the last two summers while I was in school and prior to this I was paying $185/month under my dads policy.
I bought a 2000 Volvo S80 T6 to use when winter comes and was quoted at $225/month. Wild the variances in insurance premiums in this Provence. I guess they really don't want me driving the car under my own policy.
The sad part is I'll still pay the ridiculous amounts. Love my car too much to let it sit.
