Sharkfin antenna on 968
Since I don't need my antenna anymore (I installed an iRoc), I decided to replace it with a BMW-like shark fin (non-functional). There are plenty around, but most of them are 6 or 7 inches long and won't fit in between the fairly narrow gap between the sunroof and the edge of the roof. I finally found a good quality part from Bimmian that's only 3.5 inches long. It's a replica of the pre-2005 E42 type. It comes in BMW Alpina White, which is slightly differrent thant my Grand Prix White, but I think it's close and doesn't stick out as being a "wrong" color.
Installation was easy, it just sticks on with double sided 3M tape, but the removal of the antenna base was a major pita. Let me know what you think.

Looks good but I still prefer the factory antenna on the 968. I would love to do that to my 83 944 if I could figure out someway to get rid of the hole on the front fender.

I'm on the verge of adding the 968 antenna to my car, the windshield hookups are hopelessly screwed up on my car and i like the look of the 68 antenna. I'm not looking forward to pulling the headliner to make it happen though.

Clean install, but I hate sharkfin antennas and especially so on a 968 where the styling does not match. At least this one is small, which makes it look much better.
One day I'll shave the antenna off of the roof, and use one of those inside glass-mounted antennas on the hatch.
Pulling that area of headliner isn't that hard. You unscrew the panel between the sunroof and hatch. Then on the actual headliner upholstery, you cut a flap in the center, which 968s have, to access the area.

the install is not bad and for the fender, I bought a late fender of the same color.

I don't like it. It doesn't fit in with the rest of the car styling.
