Eh Bridgestones are pretty expensive, i know my dad was in kilobuck territory for the RE-11's through costco last year. My Direzzas were about 150 each for 225/50/16's

I've always had good luck with Yokohamas. And they are usually pretty affordable.

My budget is as close to $400 as possible for the set. So far nothing's proved better than the kuhmos, at least through online research

Thanks for mentioning you budget, this way we won't suggest tires which are twice as much what you intent to pay.Btw had kuhmos on my 83-944 & will never buy them again, when new they are ok but after a couple of years they turn into for cinder blocs, talk about a hard ride.

I forget what I paid for my tires (BFG G-force Radials) from Tirerack but I bought Cayman 17 wheels and needed to keep diameter the same, slightly narrower width due to slight rubbing under outer left lip (rear) under aggressive accel right turn and finally, good in the rain. The research tool Tirerack uses allowed me to find the right tire that fit all my needs, including reasonable cost, delivered to a tire store locally and mounted quickly and fairly priced. Anyone who doesn't avail themselves of this company's tools is missing out on a wealth of info on getting the right tires for their car.

i'd take a used 400 dollar tire with 80% tread for $80~100 over any new bargain tire. some well-to-do individual will drive his Dunlops for 7 or 8 k miles and then catch a nail.... and simply change out both rear tires.... then, the tire shop sells the good single on Ebay and discards the other. but if you insist on newm, 350 dollar tires often sell in the 100~150 dollar range because the tire shops end up with odd "singles." i collected 2 sets of y-rated Dunlops for like $400 by collecting singles.

wow... took me all of 30 seconds to find this gem with 98 % tread in my ideal front tire size;

MICHELIN PILOT SPORT A/S PLUS, 98% TREAD, 255 35 ZR 18

http://www.ebay.com/itm/MICHELIN-PIL...item3a73d2b43d

then you keep checking back to find a match.

Hmm... That's $150 a tire. x 4 = $600. Above my budget...

I'd rather not throw together 4 used tires into a set. For one, they could be old.

But hey, if you want to find me links to a set of 4 superior tires for $400 including all shipping than go ahead.

Requirement is they must have a tread wear rating at least like 350+

Pilot sports rank lower than Kuhmo 4x anyway...

i pass by their store about 14 times each year.

and they hold tires until i'm ready to pick them up.

"All seasons" mean "...not good at all in the winter and not so good in the summer." Get the Kumhos, by all means, but get the summers. Then if you go out in the snow, get winters. Or chains. All seasons suck in the winter, wrong tread compound for cold. Mine doesn't go out in the winter...

You DO know there is no industry standard for treadwear? The numbers are put there by the manufacturer and largely represent their own products?

Since you live in Arizona there is no point in getting all seasons.
My brand new all seasons were all but useless in the snow and not that great in the summer.

Well... Summer tire tread rating is 200s while allseason is 400s... That's a BIG difference in how long they last right?
