Default Indoor car cover that isn't $200

I park my car in a garage spot that is open at the rear. It'll see some wind and some rain might get on the trunk from time to time, but it's wholly covered. I've been looking around for a car cover that won't scratch the paint, but isn't an expensive NASA material. I settled on a Covercraft Dustop and then realized that I was spending over $200 on something that could be replaced by an old bed sheet (if it would only stay put!).

My biggest concern is the fact that I drive the car regularly (a few times a month), and don't necessarily intend to wash it every time before I put the cover on. Combine that with some wind and I start to get paranoid. I'm just trying to keep the Brooklyn dust and cats off between drives.

Should I just bite the bullet and stop complaining or forgo the cover entirely and not be a freak about driving a dusty car? Bah!

I use the car covers from costco. They are reasonable, 4 layer and breath. Still need to use the duster if it has been dusty. (always is at my house the way the garage is laid out)

i recently bumped a 10 year old thread where at least 4 of the posters are active. congrats to you all; a bit past the swollen knuckles, divorces (or two), and large swear-word vocabulary... to go along with saving the breed from extinction.

I'm thinking about picking up some poly/cotton blend fabric at the fabric store and making my own. I have an enclosed garage and brand new paint so I want to keep it looking good. I just need to keep the dust off. Hopefully i can make it for around $50.
