Very nice and congratulations! I love the land with the house set back in it and sweeping driveway- if we move again I've decided on the same setup. Nice porch too. And the car looks good! Having a workable garage is great.

OCD ATTACK: straighten the carriage lights on either side of the garage and take down the wreath until the last week of November.

the wreath has been housing a bird nest left there by the previous owners. it will come down on my next day off. didn't notice the crooked lights, lol. the porch goes all the way around the house! i will post some better pics today when i get back from getting my check and running errands

Looks like there's room for a detached high bay workshop in the future too

New house and a first porsche project. I was cringing at the thought that maybe you clipped the house or garage door with the car!

Congrats!

Nice house and garage. Looks like a comfy spot to work on the car. I'm in the insurance business, you may want to keep an eye on the condition of your roof and maybe make a modification to the upper level gutter downspouts that empty directly on to your lower level shingles.

Depends if you live in a cement jungle or not but generally in the states you can certainly build with more woods around you.

the roof is the biggest concern. we had the roof inspected and the inspector said that we have a few more years left out of it. before we closed on the house, we had to have the section of roof repaired at the section where the upper gutter pours into the lower gutter.

If you can swing a new roof (whole house) now do it. A lot of what I can see looks rough. You can do a 30-50 year roof with architectural shingles, etc. The darkening is not great and you may start to see granular deterioration. If you have a roof claim, it will hurt you going forward over the following two years if your company keeps you. If the loss is big enough, your company may drop you due to negligence because it was a know condition, and you may have difficulty finding a new carrier.

I can suggest that you should extend those upper downspouts and have them empty into the gutter rather than run over the shingles. Alternatively, you could join the two pipes into a bottom downspout that has a slight pitch and shoot it off the side. Just thoughts though, you or you contractor may have a better idea.

Up here in the Norheast, companies are strict on this. We had tons of roof collapses this winter as well. I drive to work every day and thank god that I don't insure some of the houses I see because the roofs are so bad. It's not a cheap job on some houses, but it should be a priority.

congrats on the new house and all that Porsche space! Just bought a house this weekend! I have a 40ft. deep single car carport that is right up against the house that im going to finish out so it will be... unique if not ideal.
