Default Motor Mount Vibration? While they're in there...?

My 1988 car (and DD) is at 140k and I've been severely neglecting its care so its going in tomorrow for some attention.

There's some pretty heavy vibration coming from the engine/body left side which I suspect is a motor mount. Its gradually and slowly gotten worse over a year or so.

I've had this done before on other cars in the past' my question is; this is an all day job and they should do Timing belt/water pump etc, at the same time?

When were the last belts, water pump and rollers changed? If they're older than 5 years and/or 40k miles, by all means. Water pump is changed every other belt change. Do you have any oil leaks going on under there? If so where are they showing up? How's the car running overall? Answer these questions before you go in as they will lead you to the other WYIT (while you're in there) items.

The passenger side of the car usually ruins motor mounts first due to the heat of the exhaust manifold.

Motor mount vibration is usually felt at 900-1100 rpm --idle range.

To replace the MMs is a 3 hour job if you follow Clarks info. ( and use a pry bar--tip)

DO NOT BUY cheap MMs. You will do the job over in 18 months if you are lucky.

Get $$$$ Porsche MMs or Rein $$$ if you can find them.

NO- Deutsche Parts
NO-URO
Meyle? if you plan to sell in a couple of years--maybe

Shop and search.

The procedure requires lifting the engine and dropping the cross member. With the right tools a couple of hours. A lift helps though.

I have tried some DIY on my old motor mounts and plan to swap them out again this weekend if I do the oil pan gasket. I have seem a taller type of mm with a green top, anyone know what kind they may be from this brief description?
