Default Slotted early-offest brakes

I don't know about you guys, but I haven't been able to find slotted rotors for early-offset NAs. I have a set of the zimmerman cross drilled, but have been disappointed by how quickly cracks developed around the holes (e.g. 4 track days).

I contacted a friend of mine at this place: http://www.merlinmfgusa.com/motorspo...ucts__services and he's made a set up for me. Contact chris@merlinmfgusa.com for pricing and availability.

I haven't put them on yet, but they look very nice! I'll let everyone know how they wear.

Nose came out really well. I ended up doing a metal middle section and then chopping up another bumper for the sides.

The car looks great! What did you use to cover the gap on the inside of the turn signals on the bumper once the rubber pads were removed?

Van Man ,

How much are they over the standard Zimmerman's? I have slotted on my 83. I think I got them at Paragon. They slotted them strangely though. I expected them to crack at the track (rhymes), but they did ok. Can't say I noticed any difference between them and solid ones.

They are about comparable to the Zims, but contact Chris for an exact quote.

I prefer blanks over slotted or drilled anyway. Track guys have been running cheap blanks for ages now with no desire to go drilled or slotted.
My rotors have developed more than the "usual" stress cracks. Some are about an inch long (almost to the edge) and really catch your fingernail.

I've ran "dimpled" rotors on my turbo S for 12 years and would get about 15 days on a set of rotors before the cracks would reach the edge - but that's a heavier, and faster, car (although the rotors are a bit beefier). I'm surprised that the zimmermans lasted so much less on the slower and lighter NA.

In the past, I used to run solid disks, but I found that dimpled, or slotted, provided me with a more consistent pedal feel during long sessions.

Of course, in the '90s I ran the ATE power disks on my first NA, which worked well, but the suppliers I called no longer have them available.

The fronts are $90.00 each and the Rears are $125.00 each. Feel free to give me a call anytime.
Cheers,
Chris
