When I took the head off the SE I found what appears to be an engine in really good shape, the head had minimal carbon build up, but the most pleasant surprise came from the cylinder bores, they are perfect.

So now I need to finish putting the parts together to get it running again, and then maybe send the head off to have it refreshed. I also need to decide what to do with it, keep it as is? use it for my GTS project? or something else.

I sold the white car last night, so I am down to 1 924 in the garage, much easier to focus on one project at time.

I would go light weight without cutting the tub. Gts lights, no rear seat, fiberglass front seats, fiberglass hood, and some light 7in wide wheels.

I have not put the engine back together, but I had some time to kill so I gave wet sanding a try. The results look better in pictures than they do in person, but between the sanding and polishing the black does now have a good luster to it....

First picture, just the left side of the hood has been sanded and polished, in the other three the whole thing is done.

3,000 lbs? I think even with an LS9 this thing would tips the scales a good bit less than that. Not that I plan on dropping one in.

Maybe with a couple of passengers!
Even an s or s2 engine would make the car FEEL like it had a v8. (I know you are going for the carrera gt route)
Paint looks better after the rub/buff. Amazing what some elbow grease can do. I did the same thing on one of my cars many years ago. Thought it needed paint, but after a professional polish, I was happy with the paint for another 3-4 years!

I want a C-GT tribute, but I cannot decide if I should cut the rear 1/4s on this car. I mean it is a rare 1 of 500, but at the same time the 924S is so unloved that the relative rarity does not seem to add much of anything to its value.......

So to cut or not to cut that is the question.

If it were mine I would leave it but if that is what you really want I say get cutting. It is the perfect platform for what you want.

Finally finished the heavy gasket replacement on the SE today and she seems to be running like a champ. I did a few of the "while you are in there" items, timing belts, rollers, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, and some new coolant lines. So in theory this car is ready to drive again, too bad I don't have a set of tires for it to do a test drive. But she starts right up and runs well on the jack stands.

I still don't know exactly what the future holds for this car, but I am a little closer to a decision point.
