Default Glad She Didn't Catch Fire

Dropped my 86 Turbo off at Motor Werks Racing today. Got a phone call an hour later telling me how lucky I am. Evidently I've been driving around with a fuel leak in my Engine compartment. Dripping onto the engine, evidently. Yikes!

Thankful that it will get taken care of and that my baby didn't wind up being parted out to Lart.

I, too, have a pair of fire extinguishers in my car for just this reason.

Also I'm required to carry one for track days and I fear my goldfish-like memory will lead to me forgetting it if it isn't already in the car.

after seeing leaks/fires, i think everyone here should have one.

i recently read an article about a local citizen that saved a life while was on vacation. he came up behind an accident that had caught fire and was able to use his fire extinguisher to put out the flames long enough to remove a trapped child. the story makes me think my daily drivers should have them as well.

I did smell gas from time to time, but attributed it to having recently filled up. With less than 1/2 a tank for the last few weeks, I've not smelled any more. Its a weekend car, so a full tank can last me for months.

Carrying fire extinguishers makes a ton of sense.

No, not a sunroof delete. Besides the wheels, it is pretty much optionless. 101K miles, I've had it for almost 5 years. I built the website www.MotorWerksRacing.com. They get a website, I get service. It's a great deal.

Make sure you have the proper type of extinguisher...some will ruin aluminum.

I used Motor Werks Racing for my work in the past. Matthew really knows his stuff.

Can you better define?

I still need to get one, and change out my OE lines as well. Checked almost weekly, always bone dry. For now.

Why are our cars more prone to fires? My original fuel line had already been replaced, so I'd be shocked if the fuel line itself failed. I'll let you know the details when I pick her up.
