Because the placement of the exhaust manifold....it sits right under the fuel lines. Bad design by Porsche...really bad.

I'd add something if I had something not already covered to add. Beautiful car. It would have been heartbreaking to see the thing damaged by fire.

yes, all of the the rubber lines in the egnine bay will dry rot over time and crack leaking gas onto the hot engine which can go boom!

I got the full breakdown from my shop on all that was done to my car for this service, and boy is it extensive:

1) Removed and replaced fuel lines.
2) New discs and pads all the way around.
3) Timing belt adjusted, retensioned.
4) Installed new sunroof microswitch, removed and replaced sunroof hinges.
5) New air filter.
6) New dome light.
7) Oil and Filter.
8) Removed and Replaced power steering lines and hoses.
9) Replaced Shift lever and bushing.
10) Installed a new parking brake spring and lock.
11) Replaced front sway bar bushing that was destroyed by leaking fuel and leaking power steering fluid.

I have had it back for a couple of weeks now. It's like a brand new car!
