Seeking coast to coast Auto transport referral

Seeking coast to coast Auto transport referral
I need to ship my brother's restored '78 VW bus from NJ to California. I went on the web and entered my information, however, all response indicates they are from Transport Companies, versus independent drivers. The Vehicle is registed and insured in NJ with American Collectors insurance. I tend to think an independent would be able to offer a better quote, as this would eliminate the "middle man". Being the vehicle is insured, this could possibly eliminate the driver from having to provide insurannce, if this is how things can work. I haven't called Amer Collectors yet, and will prob wait to view any responses to this post before doing so. Am I off the mark with this thinking? If not, any referral to an independent driver would be appreciated. Covered transport desired.
Thanks,
Mike

At least closer in the direction of an independent transporter would be a broker who can shop the best rig for you. I've used Sharp Auto Transport a few times in recent years who has always found the best deal going my way in a timely manner. All of them are bonded and insured, and I think you can request covered.

While not a coast to coast haul, I just had my car transported from southern to central CA. Very accommodating, price about on par with others I researched.
Call George at J&P Motorsports. Tell him Ed with the black 997 sent you

Do a search in the off-topic forum, this topic has come up a few times with alot of feedback. Ill likely be shipping my car to TX in a month or two, i have contacted both Demoise and Intercity about doing it after all the good experiences on here and both got back to me with quotes quickly, neither has been hounding me for business either .
Also check out a website called uship.com . This allows you to puy in a request to ship something, and a bunch of companies can bid on the job.. No guarantees as to how good the carrier will be though!

I shipped my daughter's car from NH to AZ in Feb using a company called "Vitaliy's Auto Transport Inc, out of Chicopee MA (413-534-4200). The service was great, driver very good at loading the car, and the car arrived on time, no damage, albeit dirty (open trailer). When the truck arrived to pick up the car there was a nice 57 Chevy on its way to CA. The driver told me he routinely ships antiques and sports cars to CA for shipment overseas.
I second the motion of not filling out an on-line form. Also, several of these companies were either just plain rude on the phone, or did the bait and switch with the price (quoted one price then increased it when we tried to book the transport).

Just had my 968 shipped from NY to CA by them (DAS). Shipped over the New Years holiday so the car came 1 week after original scheduled delivery. Otherwise no issues. $1338 from NY dealer to my residence.

This site is a great place to find reliable transport companies. They also have a free quote service that helped me to find what i felt was a good and fair price for my move. good luck!

I still get quotes sent to me on line from almost 2 years ago.
Check out on ebay some of the big car sellers and give them a call. I'm sure they sell a lot of cars and have to ship them. They must have good connections.
