28mm and 21mm wheel spacers?
Hello!
I just put some cup 2 wheels on my 86 944, and they look like doughnuts lol. Should I put spacers on or just sell them? If so what size spacers should I get? 28mm rear 21mm front? And where can I get spacers that won't break the bank? Thanks for reading its much appreciated!

Your car is an early offset and the stock wheels are ET 23.3 offset. The Cup II wheels are late offset, ET 55 are the 17x7" and the 17x8" could be ET 30, 52 or 70. The difference between the offsets is at least 28.7, thus a 28mm spacer will be fine IMO. Look for used OEM spacers on e-bay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PORSCHE-930-...a65b82&vxp=mtr

Spacers that big will only come as 'adapters'. Basically you bolt a spacer to the hub, and the spacer has five studs on it on which to mount the wheel.
I've never been a fan of adapters just because of the added areas for failure. It also creates unnecessary stress the hubs aren't design for. If you REALLY want the wheels, I'd swap in a late-offset (87+) suspension in. If not I wouldn't run them, just because I don't like adapters.
Those are my thoughts. Hope it helps.
Be safe, have a good evening!

Swapping out the suspension sounds like a lot of work for some rims. I think I might just sell them and get setting that fits. I'm just not sure about the spacers. They seem sketchy to me.

unless i am seeing things, it also looks like you have a directional tire going the wrong way.
im not going to get into an argument about weather or not they are safe, but they did come oem on a porsche 930

What a pita.
I think I know the look you're going for.
There should be a Rennlist stamped approved thread/bible that says:
"Here is the look you want=this is what you need"
With pics of course. Me personally? I like wheel well more filled in. My oem 16's are close, but seeing others with the tire just to the edge really makes the stance on the car more agressive looking and fill the flow of the lines better.
I read something about how bigger tires will do the trick, but we loose the handling and what not?
Where's the tire people that sponsor on here? Chime in with said wisdom!

Three Wheelin'
i dont think that its worth fixing that with spacers...21 or 28mm spacers wont do much....it looks like you could fit your head between the wheel and the arch...soon you'll find cats sleeping there :P
Just a "by eye" judgement...for that wheel to sit "right" you would need 40-50mm spacers...
IMO you should sell them and get propper ET wheels for your car.

incredibly unsafe. increasing several orders of magnitude of stress on your studs..... stress that they were never intended to see is a pretty good way to kill yourself. maybe on a dune buggy.
your wheel bearings might also burn out sooner.

I have late off set PD's on my 85.5 with spacers (1 1/2" rear, 1 1/4 front) had to have the "hub centric" machined off the front as they did not fit, making tightening the lugs a challenge but it works, for the last year, I have picked up 16" 7 & 8" early off set PD's off a 86 turbo and I am refinishing now and should have them on in a month or 2. Pics to follow
