Default Less expensive Suspension

Okay guys I'm 19 and on a budget.. I would like to stiffen things up a bit Yes coilovers all the way around would be wonderfull and I willl get there soon, but is there an alternative? What ave you guys done what have you seen? I have seen front springs for cheap. But what about the rear shocks? Any direction you guys coulld pouint me in there? I realize the torsion bar will need to be replaced somewhere down the road as well. That will be fun

You can copy my LeMons suspension:

Turbo Sways - $75 (I have an extra set F-24mm, R-18mm)
Stock Shocks - as long as yours are still good, upgrade to koni inserts if not...
Front Springs 200lbs - $100 Paragon
T-bar - 25.5mm - $100 Ebay

$300ish total and lower it an inch or so and voila!

If you are really on the cheap, think upgrade/replace the stock bushings in the suspension. Swaybar bushings are an easy afternoon project. If yours are original, then simply replacing with new stock rubber will make a seat of the pants difference you will notice.
I agree with above if you have the cash available..Forget coilovers. $$$$

Check here for good advise: http://www.clarks-garage.com/pdf-manual/susp-15.pdf

I talked with the guys at Ground Control. Even though they would have gotten a sale out of it, they told me the way my car was set up that rear coil overs wouldn't do much for me. Stage II Weltmeister sway bars front and rear, ground control camber plates, 250 pound 1" lowering springs, Koni Sport shocks all around, lower the rear with the eccentrics, and a 4 wheel aggressive street alignment.
Works great for me.

Buy a used setup from someone building a track car out of a turbo or S2.

This may sound crazy to some but if you want to go real cheap install these http://www.ebay.com/itm/VW-Super-Bee...60a778&vxp=mtr
Those are boge orca and they are much better than original 944 boge or sachs. They have a 3 way valve and they stiffen up by themselfs as your driving . They are direct fit for the rebuildable 944 struts.

I ran KYB shocks and struts along with weltmeister springs 200# up front and lowered the car 1 inch all around. After that I put all new bushings up front along with new balljoints. Made a huge difference and cost about $4-500

coilovers are overkill for a pure street car but i would be hard pressed to say they provide no advantage.

i dont regret mine at all. i will hit the track with mine, but there are some small things that benefit it even as a road car.
-they have given me more tire clearance (you take what you can get on a 924)
-they have allowed me to quickly play with ride heights
-any maintenance that involves, or requires removal of, the suspension is much easier because it is not under tension.
-future changes are cheap and easy

new to new the cost is not that much more either (paragon)
rear koni sport shocks and new torsion bars $540
rear coilover kit $730
i realize the price difference is much greater on the used market, but in my opinion this only supports the value of coilovers over torsion bars.

I agree that the OP should look for OEM parts off a turbo or an s2. they should make a notable improvement for very little cash. if i was not a single guy with low living expenses and a good job when i ordered my suspension i would have done the same.

The cheapest thing to do is make the car level by lowering the rear. You'd be surprised at how much of a difference it can make.

Damn I might get a set of those just because. Is there a difference between early and turbo struts? Maybe I need two...
