Default Headlights up and down

I bought a 1985.5 944 last summer that's giving my Porsche mechanic fits. When you turn the headlights off, they won't stay down. They keep going up and down. We have changed the motor two times, changed the switch, checked the wiring, the relay appears to be working correctly......what are we missing??? Anybody have this problem before and how is it solved???

Mine would do the same thing. If you timed it right with the headlight switch they would stay down. I read clarks-garage about how to clean the motor tracks, etc, etc... Looked like too much work. Searched the forum, which you probably didn't.

I pulled the relay that is attached to the passenger side headlight motor. I opened the relay. I cleaned the contacts inside. I reinstalled it. Been perfect for over 4 months. =)

I just pop the hood and wiggle the connector. Works everytime.

i wanted to test a junkyard switch i got so i swapped them one day...for whatever reason the junkyard switch would turn the lights on fine, but if you turn the switch off, the lights go off but stay up.

if you pulled the hood release the lights would go down....

went back to the original switch...no problem..

Thatks for the offer to show me Ben but I'm in Johnstown PA and probaqbly won't be near West Chester anytime soon.....especially since my mechanic still has the 044. But I'll pass on the information from you guys.
