Default SOLVED Need Mechanic for 944S 16 Valve in Los Angeles

Hi
My car wont start! Been trying to figure this out on the forums for a bit but no go. Need to find a mechanic that knows the 16valve engine and the S that can help look at this. Suspect something electrical/electronic.

The car is in my garage in west hollywood. If you're a traveling mechanic that would be the best.

Need to get this car in running condition as soon as possible.

Thanks!

Hi,

We talked on Pelican recently about this. Sorry I haven't gotten back to you - I have been swamped lately. I will let you know when I find some time to get out your way to check out your car.

An easy killer is loose wires/connectors - lift up the fuse box and wiggle everything and make sure it's all tight and plugged in correctly...

Hi spencer,
I didnt see the posts on this one, must not have subscribed. I'll lift up the fuse box and see if everything is tight and snug in there.
I have another 87 NA that broke down a couple of days ago, computer got burned out on pin 5, so now im completely without a car! Pretty desperate to get one of them fixed and prefer the S since that's the one i've been restoring and putting all my money into lately.
Do you know of any good mechanics or shops here in LA that knows the S?

Thanks so much!

make sure the cam sensor wires are good and its in its bracket behind the distributor. My S liked to die at random before i found out that the cam wire was getting hot from getting to close to the header. If it had touched it would have burned up and not run. I zip tied it back into place and haven't had an issue since.

Hi Arominus,
Thanks, I'll check that again, i dont think it's burned as far as I can see. You're referring to the wire that connects to the Hall Sensor at the back of the Cam Gear housing right?

Some parts actually looked like that before the movie.

Thanks doabarrelroll,

Do you also have an S? I think I've tried or swapped most of the vital parts that could be troublemakers.

Spencer: By the way, I don't know if this is a clue or not, when I swapped the ignition switch from my 87 NA into the S the cruise control unit, in the engine compartment keeps "whirrring" when I turn the ignition on. I've unplugged it so as to not have it running while I try to sort it all out.

Thanks

Yea, I had an S engine in my car. So, in case the DME went wonky or something, I got you covered.

Whirring? Like with the key on? Does it come from the battery?

The whirring sound comes from the Cruise Control until in the back of the engine, next to the battery. I disconnected the black round connector to it so it doesn't run.

If you want to bring the car down to Long Beach, I can definitively diagnose what is bad without randomly replacing parts. PM me.
