Default throttle position switch compatibility

evening chaps, i have a strong feeling my stumbling/hesitant acceleration especially when warmed up is due to crappy TPS, so my question is :- can i use a later TPS bosch pn 0280120308 on my '82 2.5 8v n/a ???? as i have one lying around.

The NA tps only does idle and wot... Unless you idle or wot switches are stuck on it is more likely to be an AFM issue....

Use the testing procedure at Clark's garage to test both...

On your original question, as long as the new one is an NA tps, then yes it should be fine!

i have already tested afm and it seemed ok, ill fit tps and see. i just looked on the paragon website and they have the bosch tps 0280120301 listed as ok for later cars so i guess they are both ok either way. thanks for your response

ok guys, i pulled the throttle body and fitted the new TPS today, put it all back together and fired up but it idled erratically/low and stalled. so i pulled everything again and replaced old TPS, and once again it wouldnt idle, just spluttered and died. sorry to turn this into a no run thread but what could i have possibly cocked up ? i set the throttle position switch so it clicked when throttle opened and again when it shut. This is my daily driver so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you pulled the throttle body, the first thing I would check is that all vacuum lines to it were reconnected correctly.

What shape are all your rubber bits? If you have a small crack or one of the intake hoses is loose/cracked, could cause excess air.

i dont think i disturbed them that much, also replaced one recently and rest looked ok. just to clarify it has been running ok lately albeit the hesitation when hot, which led me to try a replacement TPS. ive had to call it a night as its too late for engine revving etc. ( 10pm here in uk )
while tinkering i noticed a fuel leak from around the injector by the fuel damper. could this possibly be the cause? this was apparrent before i commenced and it started perfectly to move car to work on.

Take some brake cleaner and spray where the crack is while the car is idling. If the idle picks up, you are sucking air.

Have found multiple intake leaks that way.
