Default tranny mounts on '87 NA

So far the process of removal of the rear 1/2 of my car's underside just to replace the RMS has been an agry, dirty, time consuming process. Not unexpected I admit but I do have a question from those who've been there. On the later model 944 that have only one transmission mount, How do you get to the bolts? There's no room for a box-end or socket that I can see and I'm at an impasse until I get them loose. How can those German engineers design a car with no access to key items?

With both axle shafts removed you should be able to get to the nuts on the two trans mount bolts from the passenger side wheel well with a ratchet. After the nuts are off push the bolts through to the driver's side. They will probably get hung up in the shift linkage, so you may have to move the linkage out of the way. Just did this for the first time a few days ago...
