Default Missing magnet on engine drain plug

I pulled the pan to check my rod bearings and found that the magnet is missing from the drain plug. There seem to be two possibilities:

Its some kind of different drain plug without a magnet or the magnet fell off and is somewhere in the engine.

Any Ideas?

Get a new drain plug...

If the magnet fell off, you'd see the hole it came out of.

From memory, it looks as if there is too big a hole to ever have had a magnet. I'll compare it to one that has the magnet when I go back to the shop today.
