Default Rear hatch strut pressure??

Hi, the aftermarket rear hatch struts the the PO installed are much too strong, rated at 32 N/m (which I am told is same as 32kg) per strut. The strut manufacturer can re-gas these for just a few $ to whatever I want.

So can anyone please advise what pressure I should have them regassed to, to keep the hatch open but to not put excess force on the rear hatch structure?

Thanks

Dave

Hi Cyberpunky, I'm in Brisbane.

I reckon if someone could unclip the hatch end of one strut and push with a set of bathroom scales until it moved that would establish the target resistance / weight and then struts could be regassed with whatever pressure is needed to achieve that target resistance / weight. Any volunteers??

Thanks for the comments about the other cars - I was fortunate enough to find the 356 in a barn in NSW where it had been for 25 odd years, and spent a few years restoring it.

Cheers

Dave
