LOL yes I know Ricardo too! The two of them still go at it like a couple of angry dogs during PCA Chicago events.

I got to park Tony's car in my garage for a few days over the summer...

Tony DID own a real 1973 RS 911(orange) before the Blue 911. I thought his 71 911 had a 3.6 litre with a crankfire ignition and webers. Maybe that isn't the same car I remember.

Huh... didn't know he had a real RS at one point!

As for his '72 S-T.... I don't think anybody really knows what's under the hood of that car, aside from Tony and his mechanic!

He is an incredibly friendly guy, and ALWAYS willing to help... but he really wasn't too keen on having us poke around in there when it died that day. Don't know if he was being secretive or just protective of his baby but he has gone so far as to admit it's not original anymore. I guess the story goes that when he bought it, he had no clue it was anything special, and proceeded to modify it into the AX car it is today. Then talking to a historian at Parade one year, learned that the S-T was in fact a VERY rare car... Tony's words were, "Oops!"

All I know is, Tony + his car = very very fast combination. While some of it might be the car, he knows how to run just fast enough to win. He'll run the same time all day, then somebody beats him, he hears about it, and goes out and sets a FLYER of a lap, comes back in, "Was that one good enough?" LOL.

Ok, I could be wrong about his car But I believe he traded the RS for the Blue 71 when I just started autoxing. He was then running the RS then traded it for the blue car if memory serves me right but only Tony knows for sure.
But anyhow, yes Tony is a great guy with a wealth of info on early 911's and a very supportive competitor which is very unusual now days
