Default WTB 944 Torque Tube for MT in NC, SC, GA, FL

I am looking to buy a manual transmission 944 torque tube/driveshaft assembly that is out of a reasonable mileage vehicle and is in good condition. I need to replace the bent one in one of my project cars. I will be traveling from North Carolina to Florida next week so I was hoping to find one that I could possibly pick up on the way since it does not seem like a good item to ship. If you are in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, or Florida and you have one you are willing to sell, please contact me.

Thanks,

Chris

I'm replacing my tube with a rebuilt/improved unit. It's a few hundred more then a used and since it's a big job/lots of labor I decided to go rebuilt. Also, a low mileage used Tube may not be in good shape so if you decide to go used check the play and spin the rod with your foot to spin the rod fast enough to see if you hear some bearing noise. The rear bearing pack is the one that was making noise in my original tube.

Are you getting the bearings from Constantine? I've read about him on the boards. Since my tube is bent, rebuilding it is not an option. I'll have to decide if I am going to replace the bearings on the "new" one once I get it. There was a guy fabricating them out of aluminum, but I don't think he does them anymore.

Is your tube bent or the shaft? Never heard of a tube bending. Constantine can supply a new shaft and bearings, DIY or send to him for rebuild. Rebuilt should be good for 20+ years.

Problem with used is you have to remove the shaft to check it's straight and you cannot effectively check the bearing condition without removing them. If the shaft is out you might as well change the bearings anyway.

The tube and the shaft are bent. The car was in an accident. The impact missed the front bumper and spared the frame, but the engine took a hit. It even jumped the timing belt and bent the valves.

I think Constantine is in Florida somewhere near Sebring. I'm glad to finally find some people with 944 parts who are within driving distance from me. Ken and Brian I will be in touch with you soon.
