Not me...

But you should head out to Firebird next weekend. NASA has race event there and the 944-spec cars will be out racing.

IIRC the Fram and Wix filters have the 1 way check valve too. The elements shown above have the same filtering area, since the larger looking one has the top portion blocked off.

Event is hosted by NASA Arizona.
There website is here.
http://forums.nasaaz.com/

yes noobz are allowed and encouraged. HPDE1 is the place for novices to start running on the track. You get classroom time to learn the basics and will get an instructor in your car to keep you safe and teach you as well.

Details on the event.
http://forums.nasaaz.com/showthread.php?t=5404
Registration is now open @ http://nasaproracing.com/event/1346

We will be running the FAST configuration on Main!

* Split Small Bore and Big Bore Race groups both days
* Time Trial (Points events both days)
* Time Attack (Sunday only)
* HPDE1-4

Saturday night BBQ too!!! (Free for entrants)

Draft schedule pending...

Cost is around $280 for two days or $180 for 1 day. All you need is a helmet and safe car.

We will have 8 plus cars racing in 944 spec and will be in the "small bore" race group. There will be a host of other faster cars in "big bore" and some of the other groups. HPDE = driver instruction with 1 being novice and 4 being the most advanced.

If you cannot make HPDE 1 you can always show up and just watch. Spectating is free and gives you a great chance to mingle with all the drivers and cars.

Some photos from the last NASA race. Here is the recap

I may be interested in just watching- not sure I have enough time available to get my money's worth out of the event. I love photography and can probably get some sweet shots.

I'll talk to my dad about it

All ur links are blocked at school guess it'll have to wait haha

I bought my rear hatch off of a NASA instructor I believe..

Events are a minimum of 1 full day. No worries about just watching. That is the best for starting our anyway. Just roam around and take a look at what is going on. You probably won't see a 968 there, but probably a GT3 cup or two or three.

I beleive we will be have our paddock on the east side of the track. This should make for great specating of the twisty part of the road course. Look for all the 944 race cars. That will be us

Read this link, an oil filter study.
Fram is just plain junk.

I usually have to check 3 or 4 stores in a 30 mile radius just to find a filter. And usually they only have one, and half the time the box is covered in dust and it's sat on a shelf for god knows how long.

You'd think I would've been smart enough to order a bulk of filters but it always slips my mind whenever I'm buying stuff online...

As long as the filter has the check valve it should be fine. Mahle filters aren't a gift from the gods, they're just an oil filter. My personal experience is 1-1 as the first one I bought had bummed threads. I usually go with the Napa Gold filters to support my local auto part store.

Being a service manager at a car dealer where we see 125 oil changes a day, there does seem to be a quality difference in the way the filters are made. We see many of the cheaper aftermarket filters leaking from the seam where the cover and base come together. Not to say a Mahle can't be bad, but I bought ~40 of them for my 911s and never had one leak. I have seen ACVW engines blow the sides out of fram HP, and WIK filters. So buy as you wish.

Eh. I had second thoughts as I drove away, that I should have. I'm thinking of making up a bunch of notecards that say
"Nice Porsche ---anonymous 944 owner" or something
