924 GTS Replica out of a 951?

I'd be inclined to put start with a 951 if you want the mechanicals of one for your 'replica'. I guess it depends what you like doing more, transplanting + bodywork or just body work. For the 924S conversion you'd be changing all the front panels like with the 951 anyway. for the rear you'd be cutting the rear of the 924S and adding the rear flares, for the 951 you could potentially go all fibreglass (a'la that guy with the full carbon fibre 944 rear guards?).
you haven't listed interior parts you'd change so i'm assuming your comfortable with keeping a late dash? I think its a great compromise and anyone who knows these cars would know its not a true GTS by looking at the engine anyway. imho i'd love a 944 with GTS looks, 951 comfort and performance!
have you thought of the colour? red, silver or black or stay with your 951's colour (I would probably do the latter) Would you do the raised GTS badge on the back, keep the 944 turbo badge or debadge?
Its a pity your 951 is late offset, I would have tried to find 930 16" fuchs, 7's and 9's or even 8's and 9's. they are more dished than 951 fuchs.

If you're starting with a 924S, I would encourage you to use a 944S2 or 968 engine instead of a 951 engine because you would need to cut the radiator bracket on the 924S to fit a 951 intercooler. It's doable, but may be more work than its worth given that the 16v engine will give you almost as much power (and no turbo lag)

Early offset (heck the 924S rear suspension arms are the same as 86 Turbo.
Reason you need early offset is to make sure you get proper look. Lets face it a Carrera GT or GTS is all about the look so you need the proper details like early offset.

Like I said I would use an 924S shell. Front body work is not 951 body work either as you can't use a 951 nose. For the rear you want the bolt flares rather than the intergral boxes on 944 body. Plus I just feel when you look inside you need that early dash.

I guess in my original post I should have specified that I would like to build a 924 GTS Tribute, and not so much a replica. If I wanted to build a replica I would start with a 931 and go from there. But for many reason I don't want to start with a 931.
Keeping that in mind, things like the square dash are not so important, sure Porsche guys would look in the window an know it wasn't a 924 GTS as soon as they saw the updated dash, but as another poster pointed out the same would be said when the hood was opened.
It looks like someone has already built one out of a 944 Turbo, but it was a late offset car:
Lots of good reasons to start with both cars (924S or 951).

from this:
To this:
Jyrki made it for his wife.
He also made this very fine replica of late Henri Toivonen's rally car:

Jyrki seems to do some very impressive work, both cars are stunning.
The 924 GTS out of the 951 is a proof on concept, it is just a question of the cost to convert the rear quarters.

Or, you could try for something a bit closer. Not sure if Danny still has it or would be willing to let it go for that matter even if he did.
