Default New sunroof seal will not mate with roof

I have been fixing the sunroof on my early 944 (1984) and I still haven't gotten it 100% correct.

I replaced the dog drive cables and had to reassemble the gearbox. I also replaced one of the lifting arms.

Now that I have replaced the sunroof seal (on the sunroof panel not the body of the car) I cannot get it to mate properly with the car when closing. The back, especially in the middle, sticks up as in this photo. I have also provided a link to the internal lifting and closing. The motor does not seem to struggle to close.

Any ideas welcome...

Tried adjusting the limit switches in the trunk? It might be stopping before it finishes retracting the arms fully. If you do go messing with the switches, be sure to adjust the clutch first so you don't strip the plastic gears like I did ¬_¬

If I have a problem with the sunroof I find it easier to remove both lifting arms and get the roof sitting flush without them in there. Once the roof is where I want it, I fit the arms back to the closed position and "tune-in" the mechanism at the motor.

Did you get the year specific seal?

Try cranking the motor manually to see if the sunroof has the ability to sit nicely

It's possible that the new seal is simply too big... when I painted my car and replaced all the seals I learned this the hard way. A lot of the new seals being produced just don't fit very well. On my sunroof seal it was sticking up about 1/4" in the rear, and lots of people have had the same problem.

Ditto! I had a new seal purchased from Vertex. Wouldn't fit without significant force.

Recently replaced mine with a OEM seal purchased from Paragon. After a couple hours in the sun all is well.
