"Did you say C5 clearance?" This was the response I got today when calling some bearing distributors. I cannot seem to find anyone who sells the 6006 2Z HT51 C5 bearing.
I have searched and read through as many topics that I can on torque tube and bearing replacement.
How hot does it really get in the torque tube?
If I went with a bearing that had C4 vs C5 clearance, do I have a lot to worry about?
Does anyone have a source for the above wanted bearings?
How many people would be interested in the bearings if I had SKF or another manufacturer make them from scratch? Min of 100 ordered.
Thanks again for the advice and responses.

C5 clearance is a very loose fit. From our research this clearance was specified to allow for the ball bearings to "grow" some during their operation due to heat and not have the ***** bearings start to drag along the races, shortening their life.
The C5 clearanced bearings are just about impossible to find by the way.
That being said, many have used C3 clearanced bearings in the 6006 size with good results. Using steel shielded bearings increases RPM and heat ranges over using rubber shielded bearings.
Just make sure you use bearings from a top tier bearing manufacturer.
Cheers,

I replaced with c4 bearings a couple of years ago. So far so good - mainly track use. They were very expensive and i had to order them from France. C5 was unobtainable, c3 a lot cheaper and common.

Thanks for all the info. I have looked at the super bearings and would love to buy them but I don't think I could justify the $500 ish. Especially with all the other parts and projects I have planned for the winter.
