Instead of replacing the bulbs with led replacements, you could tap into the wiring and add a couple leds instead. I was thinking of putting leds in the four corners. Something like this:

I'm just curious, I've never heard of this before. Guess it makes sense though since the taillamps would be wired to the cruise because the brake pedal is a shut off for the cruise control.
