They know about the upgrades, and all of the receipts. I just think that after looking through the for sale ads that I can get a good bit more. Especially considering the NADA and excellence values. These prices don't come from nowhere. I mean shoot, I realize that some of the cars on autotrader/etc arn't worth what they're listed for, but I'm also gonna bet that at least some of them are selling.
I plan on buying the car back, then using it as a parts car for my other car which is an 86 turbo.

Tell them to give you what ever you think the car is worth plus the totaled car. They are getting off lucky, what if you were driving a GT3 or a '63 356 they would still have to pay reguardless. Make a list of the repair and upkeep costs and go to panorama and excellence mag and show values there. Dont settle with them until you are satified. Or and get a lawyer. Also these cars are not Toyotas or ford fairlanes 944s are cars that people keep and keep up don't settle unless you feel good about it.

also you might want to try going to a Local Porsche Dealer and getting them to write you a letter stating the value of the car.
Some dealers will be nice enough to write you a letter on their letter ehad to help as more evidence.

If you have the original parts that you swapped out to replace I would put those back, take 4500, and sell the upgraded stuff to get enough money to buy a another one, or keep the upgrades to install on your next car.

How bad does your neck hurt?
Injuries, pain and suffering are all more expensive than sheet metal. Some years ago my daughter was hit and her new car was totaled. Went thru the whole "depreciated value" with the company, but in the end they paid all but $25 of the cost of a new replacement car. The key was what it cost them to get the release for personal injuries.

If your fortunate to be in a NON "no fault" jurisdiction, then don't sweat the payout on the vehicle. You mitigate the loss on the vehicle, and there is always a loss for a well running 944, by receiving mild compensation for pain and suffering. The "system" forces this maneuver. It's a game.
