Default 968 into 944 write up?

Hi all,

Thinking about putting a 968 engine into my 1989 944, have searched, but can't see any write up on this. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Main questions at this stage are:
1. Would I use the 944 clutch and bellhousing or would I need to use the 968 setup?
2. Of the 5-speed 944 boxes, which has the best ratios (and strength) for the 968, and will my late model 944 axles bolt straight up to that?
3. If I were to buy a 968 engine without harness and DME what sort of price would I then expect to pay for those items?

Thanks in advance

Not sure in Australia where you'd get one but there's a rediculiously good deal on a 968 engine here on rennlist.

Quite a few threads on the subject. Search "924S3 Update" for my original build.

I have a 968 engine in my 89 S2. You use the 944 bellhousing and flywheel torque tube and I'm using my S2 trans. Plus you need the sensor bracket from the 944 and will mount the 968 sensor to it. You will also need the throtle cable and brackets to the fire wall. Plus you also need the oilcooler from the 968. I used the one from my S2 but the you need custom oil lines madeup. It's cheaper to use the one from the 968.

I know that car maybe. Oh yeh that's mine I used the S2 filter and put in 4 large holes in the front lid for a little ram effect with a K&N. I works well or you can use a cone filter.
