Question 944na FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulator) 2.5 vs 3.0 bar

Hey guys,

Does anyone with an NA run a 3.0 bar FPR?

Here is the situation:
-My car with No Cat, Dansk Cat-Back, and FRWilk Chip seems to run rich... It smells rich (especially when Accelerating Hard), there is Black Soot on the Bumper/exhaust tip, and the idle is fairly rough.

-I decided to replace both the Fuel Pressure Regulator and Dampener.

I ordered the 2.5 bar FPR: the box has the correct Bosch Part# 0 280 160 227 on it; but the FPR says 3 bar and has the Part# 0 280 160 235

So the Questions are:
-Do any of you NA owners have a 3.0 Bar FPR installed?
-Can I run this on my 87' NA; is there any performance aspects?
-Will it run significantly Richer than the 2.5 would?
-or should I ship it back and request the correct one?

*I am awaiting the fuel rail pressure gauge, so I can see exactly what the rail pressure is doing...

Thanks!

-Pete

Where does your chip say the FQS should be sit at? That might be the problem? The 3 bar if that's what it is will only make it worse it's for more FP not less.

Send it back and get the correct one....3.0 are intended for 951s... to be used in conjunction with other modifications.

Bummer. That's what i was expecting to hear... Just hoping to save the time and effort required to get the other FPR... Thanks for the Replies.

@ Schip43, i have been meaning to check the FQS; i have never touched it but who knows.. need to dig out a Golf Tee.

Anyone else with experiences is of course welcome to comment.

Yeah, I figured it was about the hassel of getting the wrong part replaced!

Check the link it looks like for 85.5 and later you would need FQS 2 ti would cut fuel 3 % your FPR might not be an issue? Check your documentation if you have any, it might say that's where it needs to be at? You might not need any new parts!?
