Default Orange Peel in Clear Coat - 944

I know - not specifically a pure 944 question but I was/am painting a 944. Anyway, my color coat came out great but on the second or third coat of clear I got some really bad orange peel. Not a huge deal as I can sand it out and try again late but any idea of the causes? To much air? Too little air Not enought time between coats? Any ideas from you experts. This is a driveway paint job on a track car so perfection is not required.

Thanks in advance.

So many things could cause the orange peel. I'd wetsand at 600 then polish out. As long as it's shiny from 5 feet, who cares on a track car?

Might be a good idea to post this in the Concours Forum too. Lots of smart detailers over there. They may know.

Thanks for the ideas - I am going to go back to the application sheets as I am not sure orance peel is the right description. i am not sure I let the color cure long enough before I put the clear on but in the limit, "shinny from 5 feet" works.
