Default Magnaflow direct fit catalytic converter?

I'm thinking about going from my 3" MSDS/Lindsey Racing exhaust system to something a little quieter, and I came across this bolt in replacement for the catalytic converter from Magnaflow:

http://www.magnaflow.com/02catalytic...irectfit=23796

Does anyone have any experience with this? Does it fit well? I have a Magnaflow cat on my car now, and it seems to be holding up well (I've passed emissions every year), but it's too big to work with the smaller pipes I'm looking at.

Thanks

or if anyone has any suggestions for other sources for catalytic converter pipes that will bolt into the factory location, please let me know.

Thanks

That one is a universal, not a direct bolt on.

Their stuff is usually good quality. I have used their mufflers before and liked them.

hmm...that's odd, the part that I saw was definitely advertised as bolt-on. Here it is on a couple other sites:

The cats you found look like direct fit bolt ons and a higher price than the magnaflow site shows in their direct fit section. On magnaflow's site they show just the universal for an 87 924; but show the direct bolt on for a 944. Here is the 944 one >$800: http://www.magnaflow.com/02catalytic...irectfit=23796 jcwhitney part is a heck of a deal

Hello,

I was also thinking about purchasing the Magnaflow 23796 (DIRECT-FIT CATALYTIC CONVERTER)
but on the Magnaflow website it doesn't show that specific model, being compatible with the '87 Porsche 924s
instead it lists the 944 models as the "only" compatible fit. I am looking for the complete exhaust system as show in the link below:

http://www.magnaflow.com/02catalytic...irectfit=23796

I noticed White924s had the same question but he never really did get an affirmative answer
Does anyone know if this fits the 87' Porsche 924s? Any guidance or help will be appreciated.

Thank You.

If it definitely fits a 944, then it will fit a 924S. I ended up going a different route with my exhaust, so unfortunately I can't say for sure whether or not this part fits well

White924s,

I was actually thinking that too, I mean these cars are so similar so there's shouldn't be a problem.
I have an 86' 944 engine in my 924s. So I mean if the engine fit in the car; that exhaust system should fit as well.

May I know what exhaust system you went with and/or where you purchased it? Price? Website?
Any thoughts or suggestions?

By the way thank you for responding so quickly, I really appreciate it.

The shop that works on my car had something in their attic that fit. I'm not sure exactly what it was, but it fits between factory headers and a dansk cat-back exhaust. Sorry that I can't be more helpful

The Magnaflow Universal one is the same one I have had in my car for the last 2 years. They work great. All you gotta do is take your car to an exhaust shop and they will cut the old one out, and weld the new one in, and most do just that for cheap. Just make sure you take your car to an ACTUAL exhaust shop, because at 2" diameter, they will need to use the flaring machine to stretch the inlet and outlet openings to slip over the piping. I would go with 2.25" diameter piping all the way back. Thats what I have, and the car loves it.

Thank you for the suggestion but I am actually looking into replacing the entire exhaust pipe
from the exhaust flanges (where the exhaust manifolds end) to the end of the catalytic convertor exhaust flange.
That whole exhaust pipe needs to be replaced. Here is what I am looking at but I don't know if it'll fit
the Porsche 924s? Any ideas?
