I haven't had this experiance yet. I'm one of the youngest in PCA here but no one gives me a hard time about driving a 944. It's going to be in the "Ozark Lakes" paddock tomorrow at the car show along with 911s, 914s, Panamaras, Caymans and whatever the dealship decideds to bring. Went and did an AutoX with the KC chapter and no one gave me any crap again. It was me and another 944 that was prepped.

Which is why I said most, meaning not all. Sure, there are better regions out there that support all Porsche models, but I've been around enough to see that in PCA, the 911 is it.

Pull into (most) any PCA gathering, how many people come over to check out your 924, 944, 968? Now how many people come over to check out the 911 that just pulled in, even though it's the same as the prior dozen 911's that rolled up? I rest my case.

most people in my town do not know my car is a Porsche until they see the label or ask. I did talk to a cayman S owner a couple weeks ago and we had a good conversation since he had owned a 944 back in the day and said it was his biggest regret to sell it. I also believe most of the other porsche owners dont know that my car is a porsche since they only know the 911, panamera, cayman, boxster , and cayenne.

Every time I see an Automatic Sports car i die a little... :/

I often think that there is no way Enzo Ferrari is Resting. In. Peace. ...As he basically hated anyone that bought his cars and did not race them!

However Enzo sold Ferraris' to "Customers" so that he could afford to build cars for his racers and race enthusiasts.

So in that spirit, I would like to Thank all the Wealthy Individuals for supporting the Sport Car Manufacturers that I love so much! Please continue to Buy these cars, keep them well maintained and polish the paint often. I look forward to buying your mint condition, slightly used sports car for less than a 1/4 of the price you originally paid.

I promised to take great care of your car, and make sure it gets plenty of exercise everyday!

Sincerely,

-Auto Enthusiast

p.s.

I don't wave to anyone in a New sports car of any kind... I realize that person has no idea what they are driving; and if they see me wave their assumption is that i'm impressed with the amount of money they have.

I had a few 996TT owners look down on my car at a few Porsche gatherings. After I blew their doors off they seemed to come back down to earth and show some respect for the 80s super car.

I get waves from some owners of other P-cars. I had a guy in a 993 turbo compliment my car as we waited to get on the freeway.

And as far as waving goes. I have been waved to by many Porsche owners, (997, 996, 993, 928, 944, 924, 914 etc) I have never been waved to by a Boxster owner.

Go into the Porscheplatz hospitality tent at any given ALMS event, and the amount of Porsche wisdom in there can be collected within a speak and spell. Sure, there's going to be some true enthusiasts, but most of them have never turned a wrench on a P-car in their life. Hell, most don't even own any tools. Screw 'em.
The PCA gives us a chance to make it our club. No one ever said that it had to be dominated by newer models.

I have been involved with Porsche's for about 25 years now and have seen the PCA as well as the SCCA clubs change over the years. It seems like they are being dominated by owners who just got into their car to being dominated by people who have always been 'Car Nuts' and are just out to have a good time with other car nuts. The club is always a lot more fun with the later group.

Personally I get tired of seeing only newer cars at the club events and love it when a big group of older cars show up.

I would love to see a Pro Solo event once a month here in Utah. Imagine if the PCA not only held this even where different Porsche models could challeng each other but what if once in a while would combine with another club to have a "face off". Say Porsche vs. Corvette in a Pro Solo.
Now that would be fun!

2 summers ago I pulled up to stop light next to a brand new 997 turbo and since it was a nice summer night, we both had our windows down. As I was looking at his car in envy, we lock eyes (non romantic type) and I spout out, "997, basalt black. Love it. Nice car" (for the record I cannot remember what color it really was).. He smuggly looks at me and replies, "thanks, but it is actually a 911".... I then responded with, "yeah, I know 997 is the...." and then the light turned green so I said, "forgot it" and I drove away... Unreal... some people buy the price tags other buy cars.

Ha ha ha!! The name of this post is called "Porsche douchebags.."

I stopped trying to wave because i couldn't handle the constant rejection!

I still attempt the head nod though.

If you ride a motorcycle it's amazing the camaraderie that goes with it. Between all makes, models, and years... Just mutual respect between riders.

Yep, I don't wave at other P-owners unless they are 924/931/944, etc

It cracks me up that when I ride my Harley Dyna everyone waves back but when I ride my 88 Cafe Sportster (no Harley markings) most of the poser Harley riders (ya know the type, brand new bike with matching helmets, leathers and you only see them on sunny days) won't wave at me ....the old timers ALWAYS wave and ask me about it.....Each group has their own brand of douchbaggery!
