Does Anyone Know 944 vs 951 But Us?

Not many in Massachusetts have a clue, especially in the hick town I live in. You'd be lucky to see a 944 anywhere, let alone a 951, of which I own 1 of each. In Mass however, you have to start with two letters when applying for a vanity plate, and you can't do that until you have regular plates, so of course they get you both ways, as long as your plate desire has not be taken already.
Who cares if anyone else knows what it is? You do and those in the "know" do.

Mine says 1987 944. Still most folks don't know what kind of furrin car this is. That's the way it is with a "secret society". Just grin and be happy with the fact you got a great car and very few others do.

One reason I like factory wheels is that it helps to keep the identity since a lot of people just focus on wheels these days. Problem with the damn 16's is that new tires are nearly extinct.
For plates, I had 924S on my 924S and ZX-14 on my ZX-14. Haven't done anything with the 951 because Texas jacked up vanity plate prices a year or two ago when they outsourced the whole project, the prices are stupid now.
The state has hung on to a few of the original state project fundraising specialty plates, but if you want a "new" fundraising plate or even a plain-jane white personalized plate, the prices doubled because a for-profit company took over.

Yes it has really gotten high priced since the changeover. I did the "chat" with a rep and asked if I could buy for year and then snag the 5 ot 10 year deal with the discount. Nope. You can get the discount on the first purchase only. But I'll look at the 5 year. You do get dibs on the renewal on your plate of course.
