studs are optional with the hakkas. I did not have studs and they were fantastic

If you can fit (and find) them, Vredersteins Snows are incredible winter tires!

And ditto as to:
  • Extra set of cheap but functional rims, and swap as necessary.
  • Narrower tires (more weight per square inch in the contact patch) will serve you better in the snow. A common problem with sporty cars are wider tires whose contact patch more easily floats in the soft stuff.
