Is an alignment needed to replace rubber castor blocks with updated ones?

My car has been out of commission for a while. i am in the process of putting in a rebuilt. I dropped the crossmember with the suspension attached. I plan to replace the original rubber castor blocks with the newer ones. I had to remove the control arms the other day to rebuild the balljoints since one of the boots was all torn up. Is it possible to replace the castor blocks without requiring an alignment with the whole control arm off? I was wondering because if I try to loosen the nut on either side of the old block that is still on the arm it seems like castor will change because that tab moves.

no. but go with the 968 blocks. they're a notable improvement and straight bolt on.
55 dollars each at Zims when i picked up 2 sets last year.

you can mark the eccentrics that attach the A arm to the caster blocks with a paint pen or nail polish and then realign them the same way when you put them back on the new castor blocks but they won't be perfect.
I would get a good alignment its worth it and you will feel a huge difference.

When I put the 968 caster blocks on, I thought there was some slop in the bolt holes. I would assemble everything with the bolts not-quite-snug and see how much slop you have. I got the alignment done because of concerns I had at the rear.
I would also replace the front control arm bushings if they're original. The 968 blocks have a lot less rubber so you have an opportunity to tighten up the suspension while you're in there. I'm running delrin fronts, which I guess is a compromise between stock and sphericals.
