Default 6th 944

Well, I'm buying my 6th 944... The first one was an NA, then I had two turbo Ss, and I've had a turbo S parts car and an NA parts car... Going back to an NA.

I'm taking the advice that's frequently given, but seldom taken - I'm buying a turn-key, ready-to-go race car.

It'll take a while before it's in my possession, but, for now, here's a picture.

Congrats Van.......... wow, who would have believed vinyl stickers would pay for that!!!!!!!!! So instead of getting a falcon....I should have bought a used vinyl machine.

Make sure to let me know when you plan on venturing to New Jersey Motorsports in Millville, NJ....I live less than 45 minutes away.

I raced that car back in Az in 2003/2004 in it orignal light blue metallic.

It got repainted flat black in late 2004 and sold to So-cal sometime in late 2004/early 2005. I forget the exact date. Anyway this second owner ran the car as #551 with red numbers in flat black for years.

July 2005 - Willow Springs

Last time I raced it was in 2006 where it still flat black. Locted in the left of picture between the white and white with blue stripes.

This owner was a very strong driver and did a nice job with race prep. He always had the car working well. In late 2006 we had rules change in NASA that caused the owner to race with Porsche Owners club instead of NASA.

Here is the car at Infineon in Oct 2006. Won the both 944 spec races that weekend.

Not the prettiest in flat black and that is why the color changed.
Even so ... The owner is in center. Money, *****, win.. .Does it get any better?

So some time later the car was repained orange. Very nice car to my understanding, but I have to say that I have not seen it since 2006.

Great pictures Joe! Jim's face says it all, doesn't it?

The car did a lot of POC races in 2008 and 2009, then sat unused because Jim got into open wheel racing.

That sounds about right. I knew he was trying to sell it a while back, but not really that hard. Certainly no firesale or anything. I have not hear much in a while so it could have changed hands once in between. Glad you got it from Jim. Proves to me that nobody "messed with it". I have seen the relability/quality of cars change over years depending on the owners as some are more meticulous than others. Not so much cosmetic stuff, but mechincals. I would expect it to be solid well sorted car. Probably needs new belts (harness), and window net, but Jim probably told you that. If you want to race in NASA 944 spec or PCA SP1 study the rules. I am not sure where the last iteration of POC rules when the car raced so I can't say it is 100% legal to the 2011 NASA/PCA rules. Should be close of course. If you plan on DE for while just drive it and enjoy.

Congrats Van. I'm guessing it is a SP1 car. Are you going to update it to run in SP2?
When you plan on racing it?
