Unhappy Rear quarter glass replacement

I had to replace rear speakers in the '88 944T, so I removed the black aluminium trim on the outside of the rear glass seal & then pushed the glass out.

Now to put it back I used the rope trick to put the glass & seal back, but I cannot get the black aluminium trim back in the seal!

Do you put the trim in the seal before putting the glass back? Any tricks here?

TIA

Yep, the trim in the rubber first, then the window back in. Might have to take the rubber off the window itself to get the trim back in though. For future reference, there's no need to take the trim out to get the window out.

I used a block of wood to press the trim in very carefully after the window was back in the car, I also used some dish soap and water to help lube it up.

I was able to get the old speakers out and the new ones in without taking out the windows. Not saying it was easy, but it wasn't all that difficult either.

I have the 10 speaker package (from a Turbo S), no way to get the main speaker out without removing the panel, there's little spacers & all sorts back there.

Thanks for your replies.
